    Connecting KNX and Loxone

    Hello,

I have a question about integrating KNX switches with Loxone switches in my project. I prefer the KNX switches to be less visible than the Loxone ones. Do I need to run a separate wire loop for the Loxone Tree cable, or is it possible to connect both types of switches to the same wire loop?

    Thanks for your assistance !

You need a separate cable. KNX bus and Tree bus are somehow similar, but physically they are completely different. You should use a tree cable for tree and certified KNX cable for KNX. If you have a low distance and only a few devices, even a CAT-7 cable will do the job. Technically the KNX bus "injects" the power on the same wires that are used for signalling to run switches and other low-power components. The tree cable is using separate and thicker wires for power.

If you're placing KNX switches in hidden locations and Loxone switches in visible spots, you can wire power and common loads together, but keep communication cables separate (KNX bus for KNX, Loxone Tree for Loxone).
