I Need Advice for Loxone Setup in a Smart Home with Multi-Zone Audio.

    Hello there,

I am in the process of setting up a Loxone system for my new home; and I am hoping to get some advice from those of you with more experience. My goal is to integrate a comprehensive smart home solution that covers multi zone audio; advanced lighting control; and security.

I plan to integrate an audio system across five zones. I have been looking into Loxone Music Server; but I am not sure if this is the best approach for optimal performance and ease of use. Does anyone have experience with this setup? Are there any particular challenges I should be aware of; or would you recommend another audio system that integrates well with Loxone?

I am planning on using the Loxone Tree system for lighting. I want to create various lighting moods for different rooms. I have seen some suggestions on controlling DALI lights through Loxone; but I am curious about the practical benefits or issues with this integration. Has anyone done something similar; and how smooth was the process?

Also; I have gone through this post; https://www.loxforum.com/forum/software-configuration-user-interface/437473-newbie-question-on-tree-lighting-aws-devops-on-loxone-config which definitely helped me out a lot.

Finally; I would like to know if Loxones security features are reliable enough for a comprehensive home security system; or if I should consider a third party solution that integrates well with Loxone.

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.

    Hi Chris,

As always, the answer to your music request is: it depends.

It depends on your personal audio preferences. If you're a discerning audiophile, the solution might not meet your expectations (Ben from Quadral, if you read this: don't hit me ). However, if you're looking for something that delivers solid audio quality, I believe you'll be happy with Loxone/Quadral.

Personally, I use Quadral in my home (still waiting on a subwoofer, but it's on the way) and I'm very satisfied with it. Just be sure not to confuse the current Audio Server with the older Music Server.

You may want to explore the new audio products with active components and the Audio Tree. Also, plan for subwoofers in rooms where you'd like to achieve a broader range of sound.

As for the new remote connection provided by Loxone, it's essentially a built-in VPN. I work in IT with large datacenters (in addition to my Loxone business (no sales pitch here ), and I haven’t found any reason to opt for a third-party solution, even though I already have one in place for other uses.

    Best regards,
    Patrick
