    Zehner Q450 boost function?

    Hi all,

    I'm not interested to have Loxone control the Q450 based on the hydrometers in the Loxone Touch.

    However, I would like to be able to create a button that activates the Boost function for X minutes. I noticed that there is an option for a physical button that you can install on the Q450 for this function.

    Please advise on the best approach. I believe I already have a KNX module for the Velux Screens, if this is needed.

    sidenote:
    I've been advised that it is best to use the built-in sensors of the Q450 in favor of controlling it with Loxone sensors. Please share your opinion.

    I started of with grandiose plans to have my Zehnder WTW Q600 and al my heating/cooling etc. all under control of loxone. The north-star was a single app which could rule it all.After ~2 years living in the house I'm no longer convinced this is the best. I think the loxone capabilities are not as good as the capabilities which you get out of the box from the Zehnder WTW (at reasonable cost) and not as user friendly either (app appearance and app speed).

    If you want to get the Loxone system to the same level as what you get out of your WTW then you'll need CO2, humidity and temperature sensors everywhere in the house and some outside too... and then a lot of logic to make it work year round (not as easy as I thought it would be...).

    The WTW unit itself does a great job in sensing humidity increase from showers, and in our laundry room we have a local Zehnder sensor that talks to the WTW directly. We have a few wireless Co2 sensors for the WTW and that's it. it regulates itself based on inlet temperature and humidity, as well as exhaust temperature and humidity, and will look at the Co2 sensors as well. it'll open up the bypass when needed to cool down at night..etc. no programming needed and easy to adjust using the Zehnder app.. All I've left from my loxone installation towards the WTW is a single 0-10V contact which allows me to turn the WTW to the maximum level for x-minutes.. but to be honest I normally use the Zehnder app for that, as it's much faster and more convenient to use... oh, and easier to transfer to another owner if I sell the house.

    If I would start over again I would not even think about connecting the WTW to loxone, I'd just invest in the comfoconnect LAN C from Zehnder and if you already have the Zehnder option box for some of the Zehnder sensors connect a single AO from loxone to the option box to allow boosting from loxone. that's where I ended up after a lot of messing around and trying to get it right through loxone. If I have to let go of the 0-10V from loxone I'd do it in a heartbeat, no value add over the Zehnder app for me.

      I do not have the Zehnder module to connect the app, it requires an extra purchase if I'm correct. I'm thinking that just using the Boost I/O with Loxone will be sufficient.
      Would you be so kind to walk me through the requirements and steps for installation and configuration in Loxone Soft?

      Are you using the Zehnder app for other things than the boost function making it worth considering still?


      update after looking into the Zehnder installation module:

      So, if I understand correctly there are 3 modules:
      the option box
      Comfoconnect KNX
      comfockonnect Lan

      If I just want to have a "Loxone Button" (can be physical Loxone Touch or just via the Loxone app) then I need to buy the Option Box, right?
      Then I can connect directly(?) to Loxone server? How?

      Would it make more sense to buy the Comfoconnect KNX if I already have a KNX Loxone module (to be checked, I believe I have one for my Velux External screens)?

        I use the app to also open up the bypass if I feel we need that too. Also it allows me to change the behavior of the fanspeed at a certain level (my Co2 sensors send 0-10V too). I use it to change the settings of when the heating and cooling season starts... All of this is also possible ont he display of the unit itself, I just don't like the controls on the unit itself. I cannot decide for you if it's worth your money. for me it's worth it.

        at minimum you would need the optionbox, cannot directly connect it to the unit via 0-10V.

        Well, see above mentioned Wiki. with the KNX module you get most functionality and capability in loxone, but it requires the Zehnder WTW unit to become fully controlled by loxone. I'd suggest you to think very hard before going there.... Like I said, I think the Zehnder unit is doing what it needs to do really well. I tried to adjust with Loxone, and found that you need to spend time handling corner cases

        E.g. what if in summer you have high humidity, happens here in NL. then you don't want to trigger extra ventilation because of high humidity. So somehow you need then a filter to distinguish between a hot/humid day and sudden humidity increase. great, now we add another case to the very same mix. We have a laundry room. Humidity will increase, but not as rapid as a shower will make it increase. so now you need a per room curve to trigger additional ventilation, while keeping in mind that you don't trigger too fast because of humid weather.

        In the end I gave up, dumb-ed everything down and let the zehnder unit deal with ventilation... and it works great. All I need the app for is to finetune and that's it.

          Is there any way to controll the bypass with Loxone?
          My guess was KNX, but it is not listed in the documentation

        based on the documentation of the "comfoconnect KNX C" (https://www.ventilatieland.nl/files/...0010696090.pdf) I don't see a group address to change the bypass state. I guess it could be done using the "Comfoconnect LAN C"and some hours of programming using: https://github.com/michaelarnauts/comfoconnect

          Or any temperature values (with KNX) which results into a movement of the bypass?
          For example set a extreme high or low temperature value in "temperature profile" or "external setpoint"?

          Still making a choice for my ventilation D unit So I'm not able to test it my self.

            it is possible to control bypass, boostmode and many other loxone. you need the lan c module and a loxberry

              Already read the https://www.loxforum.com/forum/faqs-...736#post239736 post.
              Checked the VI / VO and code, seems the 'bypass' is only available as a 'get value' instead of a 'write'.

              Seems it is only possible to retrieve the status of the bypass instead of set it?
              Correct me if I'm wrong.

              Hope to find a possibility to take control of the bypass

                    oh. yes. it's work in progress. at the last tests I had some problems with commands to the script.
