cant get any install to work now

ive had previous versions installed and working on the same hardware, but now cant get the current version to work despite many clean reinstalls:

hardware is intel dell laptops (2 different versions, both previously worked fine) 1 is i5, the other is i7
8gb ram, SSD, recommended usb sound cards (i have both logilink and cm106 versions) - both laptops work fine with windows 10

i can reformat the SSD, install LTS16, disable the internal intel sound card using blacklist, install musicserver4lox, create zone sound cards, create virtual players - all ok

but none of the virtual players will start manually or automatically.

all very odd..

any suggestions?

check the channels, if using a translate app 8 gets translated to 8th and you have to edit the config files. What error are you getting - Im now getting broken pipe errors on my fresh install and not 100% sure why yet.

no im using the config interface in german - i dont get any error messages, just the virtual players wont start. its odd that exactly the same hardware has worked time after time with earlier installers.

and from a shell "sc players all start" no errors?

reinstalled and configured the usb sound card to 44khz and it works normally again - very odd...
