more than 20 zones

if i create more than 20 zones, eg 3 x 8ch usb cards or 2 x 8ch usb plus loads of external zones, how do i configure this in ms4h and loxconfig? can i create more than 20 zones in a single ms4h instance and do i need to add a 2nd music server in loxconfig once i go beyond 20 music zones?

The system is not designated in this way for the moment.
At the beginning of the development of the MSG we had spoke about, but didn't thought that anybody need it.

At the moment I think its best to have a second MS4H, but will put that again on the list.

thanks - i asked because when i set up a 2nd server as backup using a temporary different server name and IP, it seems to confuse the first one which tends to stop working. Switching off the backup server always resolves this.

Currently as a workaround i use a limited subnet on the backup server to connect to the internet but not let the other network devices see it.

Should not be the case, I bind all Zones to the IP of the installed LMS-IP.
So a second Server can work as a total separate Device without effecting the fist one.

For the MSG it could be because both work at the same port at the MiniServer, but should also work.

Has the "backup" Server the same Zones (names) like the other one?

I have 3 additional Test-Server at the same net, without any problem. Only the MSG is at a different Test-MiniServer so that is why I'm not sure if that works on the same.

yes the backup server uses the same zone names, in essence its a complete copy, except using a different IP address and server name, then if needed these 2 would be changed to match the original ones

for sure this will not work, MSG and the Zones get doubled.
If you shutdown the main system and start then the backup will work but not side by side.
