I have quite the same setup, 2x 7.1 soundscards + PI4.
For the moment everything is running with 1 soundcard connected to the USB-A output of the PI4 + the other soundcard is connected to the USB-C output of the PI4 with an USB-C > USB-A adapter between it.
With the USB-C to USB-A adapter, everything is working as it should be.
First I wanted to use an USB-C HUB to connect both soundcards to the USB-C.
But when I connect the USB-C HUB, seems it is not recognised by the unix system, very strange...

Normally Orico is well known to use good VIA USB controller chips.
(USB-C HUB is working as it should be on my Dell notebook with Ubuntu 18.04).
Maybe you have any suggestion which I can still try to power up the USB-C hub on the PI?
Still have to try a normal USB-A 3.0 hub behind the USB-C > USB-A adapter, to test if that combination is working.
