    Operating modes for presence/absence indication

    Hi,

I would like to use a function so that, when I de/activate it, my home goes into pre/absence mode. I would like to kill most of the standby power losses in my house. This means chargers, TV, access points, tv digicorder etc...

For this I would like (for now) to setup two modes: presence and absense mode. When I'm present, everything should be on, when I'm out, ... well, you get the idea.
I've got a feeling I need to do this via the Operating Modes, but when I look at the videos I've got the idea those are meant more to set for specific times/periodes in the year.

My biggest question I guess is: how would I go about this programming-wise? I've seen that, an Operating Mode needs to be combined with a timer block or an intelligent room controller. So how can I make it eg. deactivate certain power sockets then? Could somebody provide a programming example please?

    Thanks!

operating modes are like memory flags, but work inside the IRC blocks for heating/cooling

for your use which doesnt seem to be inside the IRC, but will activate/deactivate a number of items, then a switch (real, virtual, timer, whatever) linked to a memory flag will work fine, then attach the flag to each item you want to enable/disable, so for example the flag can be attached to the R input of a smart socket air and when the flag is active it will disable the socket.

you can extend the idea so attach the flag to the Loff input of a central block, and all the lights and function blocks associated with it will be turned off without making your config look complicated

Thanks Duncan! So for my specific use, I don't need the Operating Modes at all? That makes sense. Just one more question: what is IRC?

I really need to have a closer look at the central block and see what it can do for me. I made my initial config years ago before that block was available and have never used it. Maybe it has a good use for me as well...

Ah, thx! I didn't think you meant Internet Relay Chat.
